The government continues to do
nothing to combat poverty, CGIL union chief Susanna Camusso said
Thursday. "Poverty is a trap that monetary policies alone can't
solve," said the leader of Italy's largest and most left-leaning
national union federation. "It gets solved by inclusion, which
rests on access to education and access to jobs". Camusso went
on to blast the government's idea that it can delegate the task
of creating employment to the business sector. "(This) will
never do away with inequality and allow (people) to escape the
poverty trap," Camusso said.
