Fiat Chrysler Automobiles
(FCA) CEO Sergio Marchionne has given full backing to Premier
Matteo Renzi, saying he would vote for him in general elections
in Italy. "In Italy I'd vote for Renzi," Marchionne told
reporters late on Wednesday at a Chicago forum organized by
Italian trade agency ICE. "The premier has spoken of stability
and the country's political stability is important, fundamental.
Over 60 premiers in 70 years (in Italy) is absurd". Renzi was in
Chicago on Wednesday during the second day of his four-day visit
to the United States. Renzi will be in the Boston area on
Thursday and is set to address Harvard University. On Friday he
will take part in a global nuclear security summit in Washington
DC. Marchionne has repeatedly expressed support for Renzi, who
embarked on an ambitious reform programme after becoming Italy's
youngest premier two years ago.
