The Milan stock exchange
performed well in early trading on Wednesday with the FTSE Mib
index up 1.3% at 18,250 points after two hours of business.
Troubled Italian bank Monte Paschi di Siena (MPS) was up 2.8%
and oil-and-gas company Saipem rose 4.16%. The other European
markets registered gains too. Madrid was up 1.1%, followed by
Paris (up 0.87%), Frankfurt (0.74%) and London (0.35%).
