A fresh round of turmoil among
banking stocks combined with another drop in oil prices to push
the Milan bourse down Wednesday.
The benchmark FTSE-Mib index went as low as 2% down before
rallying to 0.5% down.
Banks suffered another pounding with several suspended for
excessive volatility.
Earlier Ubi Banca was down 10%, Bpm 8.57% and Banco
Popolare off 11%.
MPS was down 6.9% and Bper 6%.
The country's two biggest banks did no escape the
pummeling with Intesa Sanpaolo down 3.8% and Unicredit off 3.6%.
