The European Commission on
Thursday unveiled a package of measures designed to prevent
multinational companies from national tax-law differences to
avoid paying their full share of taxes. The idea, the EC said,
it to align tax rules to combat the "aggressive" planning of
firms that operate in more than one country and often move
profits where it is most fiscally advantageous for them.
