The premier's office at Palazzo Chigi
said Tuesday that three Italian citizens kidnapped in Mali in
May 2022 have now been released.
"Last night, three Italian citizens, Rocco Langone, his wife
Maria Donata Caivano and their son Giovanni Langone, who had
been kidnapped on 19 May 2022 in their home on the outskirts of
the city of Koutiala, southeast of Mali's capital Bamako, where
they had been living for several years, were released," said
Premier Giorgia Meloni's office.
"Despite their long captivity, the members of the Langone family
are in good health.
"They are expected to return to Italy today, (landing) in Rome."
