Italian police on Wednesday made 18
arrests as they hit a prominent Palermo-based clan in the
Sicilian Mafia.
Among those arrested in the Porta Nuova Clan was Salvatore
Incontrera, son of Giuseppe, the interim clan leader murdered in
a hit in Palermo last Thursday.
The hitman who allegedly killed Incontrera turned himself in
Tuesday night.
Another boss arrested was Tommaso Lo Presti, who got out of jail
after serving years for Mafia offences in 2020.
Police said they made the arrests to avert an internecine feud
within the clan.
