Bosnia: Chinese COSCO opens branch in Sarajevo

Logistic giant operates 362 shipping lines, 1.100 vessels

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 26 SET - The Chinese giant COSCO Shipping has opened a branch office in Sarajevo as part of the 'One Belt-One Road' initiative, local media reported.

Vladimir Lekic, general manager of Dragon Maritime, the company through which COSCO operates in Southeast Europe, noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a huge potential, as its market can be accessed through different nearby ports. The company, Lekic added, uses currently the Rijeka port, but it plans to expand the services at the Ploce harbor, in Croatia.

The head of COSCO Shipping Dragon Maritime Company for Bosnia, Meliha Mujezinovic, said that the company is committed to keep strong the relations between China and Bosnia and foster economic progress in the country, the news agency Xinhua reported.

The State controlled COSCO Shipping is one of the leading shipping companies in the world, specialized in domestic and international container transport. It operates 362 shipping lines in China and abroad and 1.100 vessels, connecting 289 harbors around the globe. (ANSA).
