(ANSA) - ROME - About 180 fast electric charging
''multi-standard'' stations are expected to be installed along
Italian highways by 2019, and 20 in Austria. This is the
objective of the project EVA + (Electric Vehicles Arteries)
co-financed by the EU, focusing on electric mobility in Italy
and Austria presented in Brussels in recent days. The financing
agreement, for a maximum value of 4.2 million euro, was signed
with the INEA, the EU agency in charge of implementing financial
and administrative management of projects co-financed by the
Connecting Europe Facility. According to the EU agency, EVA +
fits in the Mobility Strategy for the Mediterranean-Baltic
corridor. The initiative is therefore one of the steps toward
the realization of a network of charging stations that will
allow you to move from southern to northern Europe driving
electric vehicles. Out of the planned 200 stations, 180 will be
installed in Italy by Enel, and another 20 in Austria by
Smatrics, subsidiary of the Austrian company Verbund. Those
planned for Italy will be Fast Recharge Plus, a technology
developed by Enel, which allows simultaneous charging of two
vehicles in 20 minutes. As early as next week, preparatory
studies will begin in order to identify the location of these
charging stations, which will be installed at about 50-60
kilometers away from each other. According to the roadmap, the
first thirty stations should be installed as early as autumn
2017. Among the partners of the project, in addition to Enel and
Verbund, even the car manufacturers Renault, BMW, Nissan and
Volkswagen. On the occasion of the inaugural conference of EVA +
in Brussels, the initiative's website http://www.evaplus.eu/ was
also launched. The project completion is scheduled for late
2019.
