Putin won't be allowed to dictate peace: Scholz

Russia "will not win' Ukraine war

(ANSA-AFP) - DAVOS, MAY 26 - Vladimir Putin will not be allowed to dictate peace in Ukraine, Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Thursday, vowing to continue backing Kyiv to push the Russian president to negotiate seriously to end his invasion. "It is a matter of making it clear to Putin that there will be no dictated peace," said Scholz. "Ukraine will not accept that and neither will we." Vladimir Putin will not win the war in Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Thursday, assessing that the Russian president has already failed in all of his strategic aims.

Russia's plan to capture all of Ukraine is "further away today than it was at the beginning" of its invasion on February 24 as Ukraine put up an impressive defence, Scholz told the Davos World Economic Forum. "Our goal is crystal clear -- Putin must not win this war. And I am convinced that he will not win it," said the German chancellor. (ANSA-AFP).
