(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 24 - Belgrade has prepared a package
of measures in response to Kosovo's imposition of 100% higher
tariffs on goods imported from Serbia and Bosnia.
''These measures will be enforced only after the meeting on
Kosovo scheduled for early July in Paris and organized by French
President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel'',
Serbia's president Aleksandar Vucic said today.
At the end of a meeting in Belgrade with the political,
social and institutional representatives of Kosovo Serbs, the
president specified that these measures are designed to not hit
the Serbs, but that he described them as ''very strong''.
At the same time, Vucic reiterated that a campaign of arrests
and intimidation against the Serbian population is being
prepared in Kosovo. ''I ask the international community to stop
this from happening'', said the president. He then reiterated
that Serbia considers the abolition of tariffs as a necessary
condition of a resumption of negotiations with Kosovo. Today's
meeting with 140 representatives of Kosovo Serbs took place
after the election of the majors of four Serb-majority
Municipalities in northern Kosovo.
The Srpska Lista (SL), the party linked to the government of
Serbia and to president Vucic, recorded an overwhelming success.
