Radical left Syriza likely to win Greek elections with 31.2%

Opinion poll: 3.4 points ahead of New Democracy

(ANSA) - ATHENS - The leading opposition candidate in Greece, Radical Left Coalition (Syriza) has a 3.4 percentage point advantage over ruling coalition leader, New Democracy (ND, center-right), according to an opinion poll conducted nationwide by Alco January 11-13th, ANA-MPA reports. Around 31.2% of the poll participants said they intend to vote for Syriza, while 27.8% opted for ND. Center-left party To Potami (The River)was third-placed with 5.1%, followed by far-right Golden Dawn (GD) with 5%, Communist Party of Greece (KKE, 4%), socialist Pasok (3.6%), Indepedent Greeks (Anel, 2.6%) and the recently founded Movement of Democratic Socialists lead by former prime minister George Papandreou (Kinima, 2.4%). 'Other party' was selected by 4.1% of survey participants, while 1.5% said they would cast a blank ballot. Around 10.3% declared to be undecided, while 2.4% said they would abstain. (ANSA).
