Italy alongside N. Macedonia on its way to EU: Mattarella

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 9 - "I am delighted to be here 23
years after the last visit of an Italian head of state; we have
very strong relations with North Macedonia based on mutual
respect and trust, and we hope for a speedy accession of
Macedonia to the EU," Italian President Sergio Mattarella said
today in Skopje. Mattarella arrived in North Macedonia after
visiting Albania yesterday.
"We greatly appreciate North Macedonia's patience and efforts, even for more relaxed relations with neighboring countries; the EU is our common future; our conviction is that the European Union will not be complete without the entry of the Western Balkans; and Italy will be alongside Macedonia on its path," Mattarella added.
