(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JUN 25 - "It is true that there is an
east-west division and that there have been silences" over
Hungary, said the French President Emmanuel Macron at the press
conference at the end of the European Council in Brussels. But
"if we make a precise analysis on the post-communist societies
that have joined the EU, then we will have the answer. It is not
just Viktor Orban's issue; it is a deeper problem. There is an
increase in illiberalism in the societies that fought against
communism and that today are attracted by political models
contrary to our values ;;", Macron added.
"I am not in favor of using Article 50. Instead, we need
effective procedures, as those provided by our Treaties are too
long", Macron underlined. (ANSA).
