Earthquakes:Slovenia, no damage was recorded after the shock

There was fear among the population, especially in Kobarid

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 17 LUG - No immediate news on injuries or damage in Slovenia after the earthquake which occurred early this morning near Kobarid (Caporetto), in an area of ;;western Slovenia not far from the border with Friuli Venezia Giulia.

According to STA, however, the earthquake frightened the local population, both in the areas close to the epicenter and in central Slovenia. "Some people were very afraid because the shock was not mild, many people still remember the earthquakes which happened 16 and 22 years ago," said the Kobarid mayor, Marko Matajurc, quoted by the local media.

According to the data collected by the Slovenian Seismological Office, the 4.50 am earthquake had a magnitude of 3.8 and an epicenter at a depth of 13 km, near Kobarid (Caporetto), 79 km from Ljubljana. Two other quakes, of magnitude 1.1 and 1.4, were recorded by the seismographs at 5.11 am and 6.08 am. "I was sleeping, and the bed started to shake, I immediately woke up." "The wardrobe started to move and make noise, it seemed to me that the earthquake lasted very long." "I got scared, as the shock strong enough." said some of the people residing in the area close to the epicenter.
