15 June, 10:18The total number of fatalities in the region is 16.013 (+67), out of which 8787 registered in Germany, 1391 in Romania, 1237 in Poland, 889 in Ukraine 677 in Austria, 559 in Hungary, 399 in Moldova, 329 in Czechia, , 303 in Belarus, 253 in Serbia.
Most of cases of COVID-19 in the area were registered in Germany (182269, +247 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (53241, +721), Ukraine (31154, +648), Poland (29017, +440), Romania (21679, +275), Austria (17014, +20), Serbia (12251, +76), Moldova (11459, +366) and Czechia (9991, +53). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 51015 confirmed cases and 2450 deaths were registered as of June 14.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 5609 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3913 in Italy, followed by Moldova (3232) and Germany (2240), while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (289 per million) and Slovakia (283 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, Moldova has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (113), followed by Germany (106), North Macedonia (86), Austria (76), and Romania (72), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 567 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between June 1 and June 8, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in North Macedonia (+36,0%), Moldova (+17,6%), Ukraine (+14,4%) and Belarus (+14,3%). In Czechia, Estonia, Serbia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Austria, Germany, Greece, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia and Montenegro the weekly increase of new cases is between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
