18 March, 14:20
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MARCH 18 - Car producer Dacia has initiated talks with local unions to temporarily suspend production at its local factory in Mioveni, in Romania, due to the coronavirus pandemic, local media reported on Wednesday.

Around 14,000 people are employed by Dacia in Mioveni.

"We have this meeting to set up a plant closure schedule, to see if we stop working on Thursday or Friday. We need to find a solution to get into temporary unemployment. It is difficult to protect the workers in the factory, there are many common spaces where they come into contact," said Ion Iordache, deputy president of the trade union at Dacia, quoted by the portal Romania Insider. Also Ford has already announced that it will suspend production at its Romanian factory in Craiova because of the pandemic, the portal informed. (ANSA).
