(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUGUST 30 - Almost 240,000 Romanians left
the country in 2018, according to official data quoted by the
specialized portal Business Review.
The portal said that 238,926 Romanian residents left the
country in 2018, while 181,344 residents in other countries
became residents in Romania last year, with a negative migration
balance of -57.582. The data suggests that migration from
Romania accelerated between 2017 and 2018. Two years ago,
219,327 persons from Romania emigrated.
Around 3.4 million Romanians have gone abroad between 2007
and 2015, with the population forecasted to drop to 16.7 million
by 2050, Business Review recalled. On January 1, 2019, the
resident population in Romania amounted to 19.4 million people,
down from 19.53 million of one year earlier. (ANSA).
