(ANSA) - SKOPJE, JUNE 15 - In North Macedonia the opposition
harshly criticized the Social Democratic prime minister Zoran
Zaev, inviting him to resign and hold early elections since he
failed to achieve a date to start membership negotiations with
the EU. Zaev was criticized after his visit to Berlin in recent
days. Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the German Parliament
would rule no earlier than September with regard to the
beginning of negotiations between Skopje and Brussels.
Zaev, after his talks with the chancellor, said that the
negotiations with the EU would begin by the end of the year. The
president of the EU Council, Donald Tusk, in recent days spoke
about a postponement of the beginning of the negotiations with
Skopje, underlining that not all EU member states are ready to
make a decision with regard to this issue. (ANSA).
