(ANSA) - BUCHAREST, APRIL 5 - Romania's president, Klaus
Iohannis, has announced that the referendum to be held on May 26
will be on the ban on the pardon for crimes related to
corruption and on the vote in favor or against emergency orders
concerning criminal offenses.
''I sent the parliament a letter with reference to these two
problems of national interest - the president said, cited by
media - that will be brought to the attention of the voters in
the referendum scheduled for May 26, which will take place in
conjunction with the European elections. Citizens will have to
choose whether the people convicted of corruption can be
pardoned and whether the Government should adopt emergency
orders in a very delicate matter such as the organization of the
judicial system''. (ANSA).
