(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JAN 24- EU member states gave the green
light to 200,000 euros to finance the study for a power line
connecting the municipality of Somplago (Udine) with the
Austrian village of Wuermlach, in Carinthia, the European
Commission announced.
The funding is part of the EU programme to support
trans-European infrastructure, Connecting Europe Facility (CEF),
which aims to promote the integration and competitiveness of the
European energy market.
The project, led by Alpe Adria Energia, consists of an
electricity power line between Italy and Austria with a voltage
of 220 kilovolt (kV), buried on the side of the road.
The goal is to increase the cross-border energy transfer
capacity by 300 megawatts (MW). The Twenty-eight members of the
EU therefore approved the proposal made by the EU Commission to
strengthen the CEF budget with an additional 800 million euros
in order to support studies to carry out 14 projects: seven for
electric power, two for smart networks, two for cross-border
transport of C02, and three for gas. (ANSA).
