(ANSA) - ROME - The second meeting of the European
Relationship for Mediterranean Security (E.R.ME.S.) involving
police chiefs of EU countries facing onto the Mediterranean
opened in Rome on Wednesday.
The appointment follows on from the meeting on immigration in
Lampedusa last June and will focus on information exchange
between security services and police to prevent and counter
terrorism.
Interior Minister Marco Minniti opened the proceedings
attended by police chiefs from Cyprus, Croatia, France, Greece,
Italy, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain.
The agenda centres on Italy's Anti-terrorism Strategic
Analysis Committee(C.A.S.A.)involving members of the judicial
police and intelligence services tasked with assessing the
terrorist threat and making the necessary response.
The meeting will end with the adoption of a declaration of
intent outlining the principles and actions to be used as a
basis for drawing up best practices for joint anti-terrorism
