(ANSA) - INGOLSTADT (GERMANY) - Thanks to the transalpine oil
pipeline ''Trieste has become Italy's most important port'' and
''Bavaria has recorded a strong acceleration in its industrial
development'', thus ''contributing to European growth'', said
the president of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Debora
Serracchiani, attending in Ingolstadt (Germany) today the 50th
anniversary ceremony of the 753km oil pipeline between the port
of Trieste and Bavaria.
According to Serracchiani, this pipeline is ''an emblematic case
of infrastructure capable of making an impact which is not only
local, but also global. Italy and Germany, together, have become
successful countries and have both benefited from the ability to
develop innovative and advanced logistics solutions''.
Serracchiani invited Bavaria to ''use even more the port of
Trieste, not only for energy supplies but also for trade''.
''Trieste has a magnificent harbour, a successful and huge
infrastructure that provides Bavaria with the fastest access to
the sea'', said Bavaria's President Horst Seehofer, highlighting
Bavarian development plans and good opportunities for further
collaboration with Trieste and Friuli Venezia Giulia. (ANSA).
