In cooperation with Osservatorio Balcani-Caucaso, Eu Commission
05 May, 17:25(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 05 MAG - An event dedicated to policy dialogue around the topic of the Balkan route and its implications on the EU enlargement will take place tomorrow morning at the headquarters of the Central European Initiative (CEI).
The event was organised in cooperation with Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso (OBC) and the DG on European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations. The meeting will offer an opportunity for discussion about the state of the EU enlargement process.
In particular, the speakers will aim to answer the following questions: How important is the 'europeisation' of migrant and asylum policies in South East Europe now that the Balkan route is closed? Did the refugee crisis give new energy to the adhesion process of the Western Balkans? If so, how to maintain the momentum?
Among the speakers, there will be Luisa Chiodi, the director of the OBC; Giovanni Caracciolo di Vietri, secretary general of the CEI; Beatrice Musolino, vice head of cabinet of Trieste prefecture; Gianluca Rocco, IOM regional coordinator for the Western Balkans and Giulio Venneri on behalf of the DG Enlargement. The president of the Italian Consortium for Solidarity (ICS), Gianfranco Schiavone, will also take part in the debate. (ANSA).
