Financial Times, Merkel will no longer be chancellor in 2016

Although elections are scheduled for 2017

31 December, 12:52

(ANSA) - ROME - Angela Merkel will no longer be German chancellor in 2016, even though the general elections are scheduled for the following year, according to the Financial Times.

The prediction is made by Gideon Rachman who, along with other big names in the FT, has compiled forecasts for 2016, even though he has not always proved to be really good at predicting the future. According to Rachman, Merkel will be sent home by the migrant crisis, which is going to worsen next year, making the Chancellor's situation more and more ''unmanageable''.

Among other predictions; Hillary Clinton's victory in US presidential election, growing difficulties in some country among the G20 (but not Italy, 'saved' by ECB programme of QE), which will ask for the IMF aid, British people saying 'no' to Brexit, the devaluation of the yuan, crude oil price above 50 USD, a fall in sales of diesel cars, Belgium, Germany, Spain or France winners of the European football championship.
