Crisis: Croatia, strong signs of recovery from real economy

Construction up for the 1st time in two years, export growth

10 June, 15:48
(ANSA) - ZAGREB - Croatia came out of recession at the end of June, recording a 0,5% growth in GDP for second consecutive quarter, and now even the productivity figures of several sectors, exports and construction, start to show positive signs.

The building sector, which before the recession had experienced an economic boom, has grown by 1,2% on an annual basis, for the first time in two years. According to analysts, the Croatian economy will definitely be out of recession only when the building sector will see a real recovery, beyond these slightly positive signs.

Exports, however, have continued to grow in the last two years, after Croatia has joined the EU. In the first three months of 2015, exports increased almost 10%, compared with the same period last year. Even imports are growing, though at a slower pace. (ANSA).
