(ANSA) - PALERMO, OCTOBER 30 - Experts began a three-day seminar at the Bio-Mediterranean Cluster on Thursday discussing new sea policies to safeguard biodiversity and marine ecosystems and to give the fisheries sector a more prominent role. The event is sponsored by Sicilian Coastal Action Groups (CAG) to discuss new opportunities for local coastal development through EU transnational cooperation. The European Fisheries Fund (EFF) has introduced new measures to support strategic plans for coastal zones, considering the valorization of the sea as a resource for the entire country.

There are 11 GACs in Sicily that make it possible to valorize the coastal areas and territory in general. (ANSA).
