'Extraordinary success' Bio-Med Cluster

Chief responds to commissioner nomination

23 October, 13:34
(ANSA) - PALERMO, OCTOBER 23 - ''The Bio-Mediterranean Cluster was an extraordinary success both for Sicily and the whole Mediterranean'', said Dario Cartabellotta, responsible for the Bio-Mediterranean Cluster, at a press conference in Palermo organized a day after the region decided to appoint a commissioner, discussing the results of the cluster managed by the Sicilian region at the Milan Expo 2015 world's fair. ''In terms of participation, we registered over two million visitors and some 500,000 people tasted Sicilian products''.

''The month of May was difficult, all of Expo initially had an organization that was particularly difficult'', he said.

''When it opened, someone spoke about a flop, perhaps to exploit this, but actually it was a success, as shown by data, mainly because we reached all the objectives we had outlined: promoting Sicilian identity, favouring integration in the Mediterranean and contributing to geo-political innovation''.

''It is a success for Sicily and Sicilians'', he added.
