(ANSA) - PESCARA, MAR. 28 - ''The Adriatic-Ionian Macroregion
represents an idea of peace in a continent that thinks too much
about politics and elections in various countries. Europe must
be able to effectively respond to today's challenges. There is
still a long way to go in order to complete this process'', the
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said in Pescara during the
second day of his meeting with the institutions of the Abruzzo
region in Pescara (Italy). In the meeting held at the Pescara
Province headquarters, in the presence of the President of the
Region Luciano D'Alfonso, Deputy President Giovanni Lolli and
some MPs from Abruzzo, in addition to the highest military
authorities, Prime minister Rama underlined the importance of
the macro-region Adriatic-Ionian as ''a strategic idea for
Europe, a continent which is changing a lot''. ''The
partnership between Italy and is increasingly active - he added
- and soon we will organize the first intergovernmental summit,
to bring our two countries even closer to each other''. Albanian
Prime Minister added that ''the trans-Adriatic pipeline is a
project that, given the recent decisions made by Russia, is
becoming more and more important for Albania, Italy and other
Balkan countries, which are struggling to meet their energy
needs''. (ANSA).
