Strong opposition from Belgrade

(ANSA) - PRISTINA - The Kosovo parliament approved last night a bill for the nationalization of the largest mine of Trepca, a huge plant located in the north that Serbia considers his property and does not intend to give up.

After a marathon in court lasting over ten hours, 93 of 79 deputies in attendance voted in favor, none against and 14 abstained, mainly exponents of Nationalist opposition. Members of ethnic Serbs, for protest, left the courtroom after the first vote.

New law provides for the reorganization of the Trepca mine as a limited company, with 80% shared by the Government and 20% by workers. Government does not rule the possible participation of the private sector. (ANSA).
