(ANSA) - UDINE, JAN 17 - '' Good results were recorded during
Christmas holidays: the hotels of the tourist resorts performed
well, there were a lot of tourists in our facilities in the week
between the 1st and 6th of January ' '. Paola Schneider,
president of Federalberghi Fvg, after the recent winter holidays
confirmed that the outcome was ''positive'', despite the less
favourable weather conditions. ''The estimates, which spoke of
hotels full up to 80%, were right - Schneider added - and this
despite the lack of natural snow''.
From January 20, the traditional 'white weeks' in Piancavallo,
Zoncolan, Tarvisio and Forni di Sopra will begin, bringing new
arrivals to the Friuli Venezia Giulia accommodation facilities,
according to Federalberghi Fvg.
'' The average duration of the stay is now around 4-5 days -
said the president - and we are really hoping for heavy
snowfalls. Anyway, until March all the hotels of the main ski
resorts are full, while those of the ''minor'' resorts are the
last to be fully booked. Visitors come mainly from Eastern
Europe - Schneider reported - especially from Czech Republic and
Poland, but many tourists also come from Hungary, whereas Forni
di Sopra is also a destination for Croatians and Slovenians, and
the mount Zoncolan is the Germans' favourite. Even some Italian
tourists arrive. Looking at the coming months, the glass is half
full: we only hope for lots of snow''. (ANSA).
