Migrants: Lasek, Poles are scared

Country does not have minorities

11 October, 13:35
(ANSA) - UDINE, OCT. 11 - ''The Polish government expresses the thoughts and feelings of the population on the migrant issue''. According to former under-secretary of state at Poland's Ministry of Tourism and Sport, Dawid Lasek, this is the reason behind Poland's policy of border closure to immigration, recently reaffirmed along with Hungary, a country which is still facing the infringement proceedings opened by the European Union against both countries.

''Polish citizens are scared by the presence of migrants. We are a very homogenous nation, in terms of religion and culture. We don't' have minorities'', said Lasek at Udine, on the sidelines of the 13th Aquileian Euroregion Forum organised by Mitteleuropa association.

Poland's situation ''is different, for example, from that of Italy or France. These communities are used to have immigrants.

That is why the Polish government behaves this way. They know they have received a strong mandate from the Polish community in this regard. Our government expresses the population's feeling''.(ANSA).
