(ANSA) - BELGRADE - Shell Upstream Albania, a subsidiary of
Dutch Shell, has announced on Friday that explorations and tests
have shown potential of a significant light oil discovery at
Shpirag 4 well in central Albania, near Berat, the company said
in a statement, the specialized portal SeeNews reported.
"The multi-day production test on the well demonstrated a
flow potential of several thousand barrels of oil per day,"
SeeNews wrote, adding that the geological settings in the
Albanian area where Shell operates are equivalent to the Val
D'Agri and Tempa Rossa fields in Italy.
"We are pleased that these initial tests have confirmed the
potential of this discovery and look forward to growing our
business in Albania," Shell's executive vice-president for
exploration, Marc Gerrits, said as quoted by SeeNews. (ANSA).
