11 August, 09:09The total number of fatalities in the region is 22067 (+126), of which 9197 registered in Germany, 2700 in Romania, 1922 in Ukraine, 1807 in Poland, 845 in Moldova, 721 in Austria, 641 in Serbia, 602 in Hungary, 587 in Belarus.
The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (216327, +436 in the last 24 hours), followed by Ukraine (81957, +1008), Belarus (68850, +112), Romania (61768, +1145), Poland (51791, +624), Serbia (28099, +236), Moldova (27660, +217), Austria (22011, +76). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 157577 confirmed cases and 5577 deaths were registered as of August 10.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 7254 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, followed by Moldova (6857), Montenegro (5806), North Macedonia (5708) and Kosovo (5638), compared to 4143 in Italy, while the lowest rate was observed in Hungary (481 per million) and Slovakia (476 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population (254), followed by Moldova (209), Kosovo (175), Romania (139), Bosnia-Herzegovina (114) and Germany (111), Slovakia the lowest (6). Italy has recorded around 582 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between August 3 and August 10, the highest weekly increase of total confirmed cases was observed in Greece (+20,6%), Kosovo (+16,5%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+16,5%), Albania (+16,2%) and Romania (+16,1%). (ANSA).
