Energy: Morawiecki, EU machine jammed; let's intervene soon
Polish PM spoke at the 31st Economic Forum in Karpacz
07 September, 18:30"We are building a coalition of countries - he explained - to propose a temporary reduction in the costs of the ETS (European Emissions Trading System, ed.) and take action on the mechanism for changing the calculation of energy source prices. We urge the review of energy prices to occur as soon as possible, here and now. We are calling for this with a growing group of countries arguing that we need to intervene faster because we will have a deepening crisis. Lowering energy prices is the raison d'état of the EU and Poland. We need tools to get us through the fall, winter, and spring. The impact of the Russia sanctions packages will become increasingly visible in the coming months, but it is not an immediate process. We, democratic states and the free West, do not just want to survive. We want to win and help Ukraine." (ANSA).
