16 July, 15:07The total number of fatalities in the region is 18.976 (+107), out of which 9071 registered in Germany, 1931 in Romania, 1588 in Poland, 1427 in Ukraine 709 in Austria, 658 in Moldova, 595 in Hungary. Between July and July 13, the highest growth of the total number of COVID19-related fatalities was recorded in Montenegro (+64,3%), Kosovo (+41,5%) and Serbia (+26,4%).
The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (199726, +763 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (65269, +155), Ukraine (55607, +836), Poland (38457, +267), Romania (33585, +637), Moldova (19708, +269), Austria (19060, +201), Serbia (18983, +344) and Czechia (13341, +103). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 91323 confirmed cases and 3699 deaths were registered as of July 15.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 6876 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, followed by Moldova (4886) and North Macedonia (4011), compared to 4024 in Italy, while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (361 per million) and Slovakia (350 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (187), followed by Moldova (163) and Germany (109), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 578 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between July 6 and July 13, the highest weekly increase of total confirmed cases was observed in Montenegro (+56,3%), Kosovo (+41,1%), Bulgaria (+31,1%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+27,6%) and Albania (+20,5%). Only in Latvia, Austria, Belarus, Lithuania, Germany, Hungary and Estonia the weekly increase of new cases was between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
