04 June, 11:00The total number of fatalities in the region is 15.074 (+96), out of which 8551 registered in Germany, 1279 in Romania, 1092 in Poland, 735 in Ukraine 669 in Austria, 534 in Hungary, 323 in Czechia, 309 in Moldova, 245 in Serbia, 243 in Belarus.
Most of cases of COVID-19 in the area were registered in Germany (182370, +342 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (44255, +852), Ukraine (24823, +483), Poland (24395, +230), Romania (19517, +119), Austria (16674, +11), Serbia (11454, +24), Czechia (9364, +62) and Moldova (8548, +188). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 45814 confirmed cases and 2272 deaths were registered as of June 3.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 4662 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3861 in Italy, followed by Moldova (3187) and Germany (2193), while the lowest rate was observed in Slovakia (279 per million) and Greece (271 per million), according to a count based on WHO data. In the region, Moldova has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (115), followed by Germany (103), Austria (75), North Macedonia (68) and Romania (66), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 554 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between May 25 and June 1, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in North Macedonia (+18,5%), Belarus (+17,6%) and Moldova (+16,3%). In Bosnia-Herzegovina, Czechia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Hungary, Kosovo, Estonia, Serbia, Germany, Latvia, Greece, Austria, Slovakia, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia the weekly increase of new cases is between 5% and zero.
