26 June, 10:22The total number of fatalities in the region is 17.023 (+101), out of which 8927 registered in Germany, 1555 in Romania, 1396 in Poland, 1067 in Ukraine 693 in Austria, 576 in Hungary, 502 in Moldova, 362 in Belarus 343 in Czechia, 263 in Serbia, 259 in North Macedonia. 209 in Bulgaria.
The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (192079, +630 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (59945, +458), Ukraine (40008, +994), Poland (32821, +294), Romania (24826, +321), Austria (17384, +33), Moldova (15078, +364), Serbia (13235, +143) and Czechia (10777, +127). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 60258 confirmed cases and 2762 deaths were registered as of June 25.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 6315 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3958 in Italy, followed by Moldova (3738) and North Macedonia (2624), while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (307 per million) and Slovakia (295 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (125), followed by Moldova (124) and Germany (107), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 573 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between June 15 and June 22, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in Kosovo (+47,3%), North Macedonia (+25,9%), Albania (+25,5%) and Moldova (+21,0%). In Serbia, Czechia, Greece, Croatia, Slovakia, Germany, Lithuania, Slovenia, Austria, Latvia, Hungary and Estonia the weekly increase of new cases is between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
