(ANSA) - ROME - ''As for the future EU budget, we believe that
funds should not be given to those who violate the rule of law
and human rights''. A proposal that has been taken up by the EU
Commission, Germany and Sweden: it's unthinkable that those who
do not fulfill obligations in terms of rule of law and migrants'
accomodation can receive funds. And we propose new priorities:
investment, youth, culture, Erasmus, external border management,
immigration and security'', said the Under-Secretary for
European Affairs Sandro Gozi at a press conference
''Infringements, fraud, EU state aid 2014-2017: three and a half
years of results and savings at record high''.
''Today, after the reduction of our infringement procedings, we
are even more eligible to ask the EU commission to start
infringement proceedings for countries that violate the
obligation to accept immigrants: Poland, Hungary and the Czech
Republic. We decided that a value-based Europe is key for the EU
we want and we are happy two proceedings have been started for
Poland'', he added. (ANSA).
