(ANSA) - PRAGUE, JUNE 21 - The biggest demonstration since
the fall of the communist regime in 1989 which is going to take
place in Prague Sunday will be the acme of the wave of protests
against Prime Minister Andrej Babis and rallies for independent
justice.
The 'Million - moments for democracy' association, which
organized the event, involved more than 350,000 people.
The first demonstration was held on April 29 to request the
replacement of Justice Minister Marie Benesova, a consultant to
President Milos Zeman. The replacement took place a day after
the State Prosecutor's Office informed that he was about to
accuse Prime Minister Babis (and others) of fraud over European
funds, in relation to the Capi Hnizdo (Stork's Nest) luxury
farm.
Babis described the trial as 'political', On Wednesday, five
opposition center-right parties will try to propose a
no-confidence motion in the two-party government led by Babis,
which is composed of the ANO party and social democrats (CSSD),
supported by the Communists (KSCM) in parliament. The
no-confidence motion will be just a symbolic act, given that the
five parties do not have the necessary majority (101 votes, out
of 200) to tear the government down. (ANSA).
