03 June, 12:11
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 3 - Storms with powerful gusts, downpours, and hailstones the size of a tennis ball left a path of destruction as they passed across central Slovenia and Croatia late Thursday, damaging automobiles, buildings, and crops, local media reported.

The storms caused extensive damage to crops, orchards and vineyards, but no figures are available yet as damage assessment is yet under way, the Slovenian news agency STA reports, noting that firefighters are still busy cleaning up in the aftermath of the devastation.

In Croatia, the most extensive damage was inflicted at Oroslavje, Klanjec, Kumrovec, and Zagorska Sela, the regional television N1 reported. Zlatko Brlek, Mayor of Klanjec, claimed the storm, with hailstones the size of walnuts, lasted around five minutes and caused devastation to fields and vivineyards.

Vehicles were also damaged. (ANSA).
