Tourism: Croatia launched Covid-free islands initiative
On 'Safe stay in Croatia' information on travel and situation
20 April, 13:44Croatia - the Authority underlined - boasts one of the largest archipelagos in the Mediterranean Sea, with almost 80 islands and 500 islets offering about a third of tourist accommodation nationwide. Already, the Authority remarked, most of the islands are part of the "green zones," with a low infection rate.
The initiative relies on the Safestayincroatia.hr portal, where tourists can check the epidemiological situation in all the country's islands and regions, how and where you can undergo tests, information on the sea, air, and road connections.
Tourist facilities and resorts will also be able to adopt the "Safe stay in Croatia" label, which guarantees that the site or place "adopts all safety and health protection measures prescribed," reads the portal.
"The importance of our islands for tourism is very high because a quarter of overnight stays in Croatia take place on the islands, where any tourist stay is two days longer than the coast," said the Minister of Tourism and Sport. Nikolina Brnjac, quoted by the Authority.
"Furthermore, one-third of the tourist accommodation is on the islands, and that is why it is important to have detailed information on the epidemiological situation of all the islands, many of which are green areas. In this way, we will provide tourists with a clear and detailed overview of a safe and pleasant stay in Croatia." (ANSA).
