21 July, 13:13The total number of fatalities in the region is 19433 (+84), out of which 9086 registered in Germany, 2026 in Romania, 1624 in Poland, 1498 in Ukraine 711 in Austria, 688 in Moldova, 596 in Hungary, 499 in Belarus, 472 in Serbia.
The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (201823, +249 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (66095, +142), Ukraine (59493, +651), Poland (40104, +358), Romania (37458, +767), Moldova (20980, +186), Serbia (20894, +396), Austria (19571, +63), and Czechia (13945, +90). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 102543 confirmed cases and 3970 deaths were registered as of July 20.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 6963 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, followed by Moldova (5201) and North Macedonia (4407), compared to 4042 in Italy, while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (372 per million) and Slovakia (363 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (203), followed by Moldova (171) and Germany (109), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 579 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between July 13 and July 20, the highest weekly increase of total confirmed cases was observed in Montenegro (+45,0%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+22,8%), Croatia (+17,0%), Kosovo (+16,4%), Bulgaria (+16,1%), Romania (+15,1%), Albania (+14,5%), Serbia (+13,8%) and North Macedonia (+12,8%). Only in Slovakia, Austria, Lithuania, Hungary, Belarus, Latvia, Germany and Estonia the weekly increase of new cases was between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
