Czech Republic: lower unemployment at EU level
Only 2.1%, followed by Germany at 3.2%, highest in Greece, 18.5%
04 June, 13:22According to data from the EU statistical office, the lowest unemployment rates in April 2019 were recorded in Czechia (2.1%), Germany (3.2%) and the Netherlands (3.3%), while the highest were observed in Greece (18.5% in February 2019), Spain (13.8%) and Italy (10.2%).
Greece still records the highest youth unemployment, with a 38.8% rate in February 2019, while the lowest was observed in Germany (5.3%).
Data from Eurostat show that, in the Central- and Eastern European area, the unemployment rate in April 2019 was 4.5% in Bulgaria, 4.1% in Estonia (data from March), 7.3% in Croatia, 6.4% in Latvia, 5.8% in Lithuania, 3.4% in Hungary (data from March), 4.7% in Austria, 3.7% in Poland, 4.0% in Romania, 4.4.% in Slovenia, 5.7% in Slovakia.
In the EU28, unemployment rate was 6.4% in April 2019, stable compared with March 2019 and down from 7.0% in April 2018, Eurostat said. (ANSA).
