11 June, 19:06The total number of fatalities in the region is 15.688 (+93), out of which 8729 registered in Germany, 1345 in Romania, 1183 in Poland, 833 in Ukraine 672 in Austria, 550 in Hungary, 367 in Moldova, 328 in Czechia, , 282 in Belarus, 250 in Serbia.
Most of cases of COVID-19 in the area were registered in Germany (184861, +283 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (50265, +812), Ukraine (28831, +525), Poland (27560, +400), Romania (20749, +145), Austria (16902, +13), Serbia (11965, +69), Moldova (10025, +218) and Czechia (9751, +54). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 48259 confirmed cases and 2366 deaths were registered as of June 10.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 5296 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3895 in Italy, followed by Moldova (3738) and Germany (2223), while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (284 per million) and Slovakia (281 per million), according to a count based on WHO data. In the region, Moldova has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (137), followed by Germany (105), North Macedonia (76), Austria (75), and Romania (69), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 563 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between June 1 and June 8, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in North Macedonia (+36,0%), Moldova (+17,6%), Ukraine (+14,4%) and Belarus (+14,3%). In Czechia, Estonia, Serbia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Austria, Germany, Greece, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia and Montenegro the weekly increase of new cases is between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
