(ANSA) - ROME, 18 GEN - Austria extends the national lockdown
until February 7 due to the so-called English variant of the
coronavirus and tightens some measures. Chancellor Sebastian
Kurz announced yesterday at a press conference, the Apa news
agency reports. The government had initially scheduled the
closures until January 24. However, from the 25th, Ffp2 masks in
shops and on public transport will be mandatory, whereas the
physical distancing is now 2 meters. Austria, with 8.9 m
inhabitants, is in its third lockdown, with only essential shops
open. The country has recorded about 390,000 infections and more
than 7,000 deaths so far. (ANSA).
