(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 14 - Italy's 2018 British Open winner
Francesco Molinari is seventh in The Players Championship after
carding a hat-ful of birdies and flirting with a hole in one in
'moving day', which was suspended for bad light.
Turin-born Molinari, the only Italian to have won a major, is
six under par at the TPC Sawgrass course at Ponte Vedra Beach,
five behind Indian leader Anirban Lahiri on -11.
But the Italian carded two bogeys by the end of the round to lie
20th on four under, five behind Lahiri on nine under.
'Chicco' has finished in the top 10 on four occasions at
Sawgrass.
Second at eight under are American pair Tom Hoge and Harold
Varner III, while 2019 Open winner Shane Lowry of Ireland is in
11th place at five under, reigning champion Justin Thomas of the
USA in 18th on four under, and world number one Jon Rahm of
Spain 38th on two under, level with Norway's world number three
Viktor Hovland. (ANSA).
