Italy mustn't treat Israeli like
Hamas, Israeli Ambassador to Rome Dror Eydar told a Forum at
ANSA Tuesday.
"Italy is a great friend. the Israeli prefer Italy to all
European countries, but Italy's abstention" on the UN
resolutions against Israel and in particular the last one on
operations in Gaza "was the most painful for us" because "for us
abstention means treating Israel and Hamas in a similar way", he
said.
Eydar added that an Israeli court's decision to send back to
Italy Eitan Biran, the orphaned six-year-old Israeli boy who was
the sole survivor of the Mottarone mountain cable-car disaster
in Piedmont in May and was taken out of Italy by his maternal
grandfather last month, was "proof of the independence of the
legal system in Israel".
He added: "let's wait for the appeal, but in the meantime I wish
him a good life".
