Nineteen people have died and
several others have been injured in a fire at a hotel in Irbil,
capital of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, the Associated Press
reported.
The governor of Irbil, Nawzad Hadi, said that a large fire
broke out at Hotel Capitol in Irbil at 4pm on Friday afternoon.
He says that 14 of the victims have been identified as
citizens of the Philippines, three were Iraqis and one was
Palestinian.
The cause of the fire, which started at the hotel and then
spread to a nearby massage center, is still unknown. There
have been no early indications that the incident was a
terrorist attack.
