Italy and the United States
"have decided to work intensely and together in the next few
weeks" in order to "muster the most complete support possible of
the international community" for the formation of a
national-unity government in Libya, Foreign Minister Paolo
Gentiloni said after talks Tuesday with US Secretary of State
John Kerry on the sidelines of a NATO foreign ministers' meeting
in Brussels.
"The choice certainly rests with the Libyans," said
Gentiloni, stressing that the joint efforts would back the work
of UN envoy Martin Kobler among the various Libyan parties.
He said the US and Italy can "certainly give a decisive
contribution and make the accord between the Libyan parties
possible".
